Students at the fine arts of Cergy, Clara and Armand compose their first pieces for the retirement of their librarian. It will be the beginning of an incongruous collaboration that leads them to post some demos on soundcloud, until the release of their first single “Prettiest Virgin” last April. After several live appearances, the group won the contest of the Inrocks lab 2016.

The two acolytes first remained mysterious on the release of their first EP “Cardan”, released on September 28, 2016. More rough than the single, Clara’s sweet and roaring voice mingles with the drum machines of Armand and sounds rave 90’s of his keyboards. The duo brings us back to an early warp sound and somewhere between Daniel Maloso, Black Devil Disco Club and Ariel Pink.

The EP “Cardan” is a trip to the heart of the United States fantasized but also in a world of synthesis where nothing would be more certain, our landmarks being blurred. Nobody has more control. The virgin forgets herself, the princess drowns, the parrot ends up knowing everything.

“Give me Goose Bumps …” Clara whispers. The skin contracts, we are looking for strong sensations, letting go, our emotions come to say their last word. “Cuidado, Eclipse …”: astral reveries and night-time pursuits mingle in a world between the real and the unreal, where the kitsch seeks to become purified.

Halfway between pop and techno influences, Agar Agar cultivates the casual while remaining elegant. Sincere, radical and obvious, their music avoids any compromise.
